The Plan of the Man

The man’s always had a plan to slow down the velocity of woman’s journeys

To lower the volume of women’s voices

There’s an appropriate level for your grief and there’s a healthy range for your rage

And when women exceeds

The emotional speed limit

Society puts on the brake

Back in the middle ages they burned unruly women at the stake.

In Victorian times they located our pain, our righteous rage, and Dr. Freud called it “hysteria”.

They use the same tactics but they just change the names.

If you are lucky, you will be called a man

Then, you will be on top of the world, the pinnacle of success, a very powerful person.

This is a catch-22 though,

If you are a woman called a man you are probably miserable

We’ve tried being patient collected calm nice

We’ve tried the cute mute act

I take it back

They blame us for the way our body works.

In case you forgot,

women don’t choose when or if they get their periods!

Trust me, if we could we would!

You may be afraid of the truth

But I’m not afraid to be honest
